Hamidreza Andarz
Hamidreza Andarz is an Iranian painter born in Tehran in 1970.
Graduated in painting from the Islamic Azad University of Tehran in 1997, and holds a painting diploma from the Tehran School of Fine Arts obtained in 1991.
Andarz's work is characterized by an atmosphere imbued with nostalgia: not only an evocation of the past, but also a present tinged with regret, and a future that memory fears losing. The artist uses a poetic gaze as a means of capturing what, in reality, is fleeting or even nonexistent. Through his treatment of forms and his dreamlike compositions, his objects are detached from their realism, and their essence is conveyed through physical form rather than figurative detail.
His paintings transcend spatial and temporal boundaries: the absence of place, date, or nationality offers a universal, timeless dimension. Some commentators compare his visual universe to the films of Sohrab Shahid Saless, the drawings of Parvaneh Etemadi, or the poetry of Yadollah Royaee.
Andarz has been exhibiting for many years both solo and in groups, notably in Tehran and at international fairs, which has allowed him to gain recognition among collectors and in the Iranian contemporary art market.

Poetics of the gaze
Hamid Andarz's still lifes and landscapes belong to a tradition that is both ancient and renewed. Far removed from the objectivity of 17th-century Western painters and the rigor of Oriental scrolls, his works occupy an intermediate space where the subject is merely a pretext. Nature, forms, and objects become vehicles for contemplation, a terrain for poetic exploration rather than a faithful representation of reality.
In her practice, painting unfolds in delicate layers, nuanced tones, and blurred spaces that open onto another realm. The artist thus creates a suspended, almost dreamlike atmosphere, where the viewer's imagination plays a central role. This approach is not a "forced expression," but rather a fluidity that allows space for observation, sensitivity, and the time required for contemplation. Her canvases invite a meditative state, an intimate encounter with color and form.
Hamid Andarz is a painter-poet. His works, imbued with humility and inner rigor, bear witness to a profound understanding of composition, rhythm, and pictorial space. Through them, he transcends historical and cultural frameworks to offer a personal vision: a painting that combines thought, poetry, and image. His work transports us beyond the familiar and opens a path to a contemplative and inner world.
