About Badguir

The Badguir Art Gallery is part of the Badguir association, founded in 2014 under the status of a non-profit organization (loi 1901). It works with the support of researchers, curators, experts, and collectors passionate about Middle Eastern art and culture. Based in Paris, the association was founded in September 2017 with the aim of promoting artists from the Arab world and Iran, particularly those still underrepresented internationally. It quickly became a privileged place for exchange and visibility for rich, often little-known artistic practices.

Among its first notable initiatives, the IRAN Photo exhibition, organized for four consecutive years in Paris, highlighted the vitality of contemporary Iranian photography. The association also worked to restore the status of artists forgotten in their home countries, such as the painter Abbas Moayeri, through retrospective exhibitions. It supported the production of documentary films on cultural figures such as Daryush Shayegan, thus consolidating its role in transmitting intellectual and artistic legacies.

After a few years of hiatus, Badguir is taking a new turn and becoming a full-fledged art gallery, demonstrating its commitment to long-term support for Middle Eastern artists. This change in status reflects the company's ambition to offer them a professional and committed space in the heart of Paris.

In this new phase, the gallery is expanding its scope to include all visual arts, while continuing to prioritize artists living and working in their countries of origin. It also supports artists with migratory backgrounds, whose works reflect the richness of their trajectories and their cultural roots.

True to its original spirit, Badguir remains an independent, curious and committed place, which gives a voice to artists and contributes to promoting contemporary creation from the Middle East on the Parisian and international scene.
